Multiview innovation: Cloud Multiviewer
supporting FPGA media accelerator cards

Announcing Callaba Multivewer — a fully scalable multi viewer for SRT, RTMP, HLS, RTSP, RTMP, SRT, DASH, WHIP, and more.

Server Selection Flexibility

Callaba Multiviewer empowers users to choose server instances tailored to their project needs:

  • vCPU-based — suitable for a broad range of streaming applications.
  • VT1-based — ideal for tasks requiring intensive processing, such as real-time transcoding or high-resolution video streams.

Users can select instances based on factors like number of concurrent streams, stream resolution, frame rate, etc.

Compatibility with both vCPU-based and FPGA-based instances enables seamless scalability and adaptability. Projects can evolve without constraints, adjusting server instances as needed.

Callaba Multiviewer integrates with FPGA-based instances for improved performance

Due to ever-increasing demand, broadcasters seek cost-effective solutions to cut down transcoding and networking expenses while maintaining reliability.

Amazon EC2 VT1 instances are engineered for fast and efficient real-time video transcoding tasks.

  • Compared to Amazon EC2 G4dn GPU-based instances, VT1 instances offer a significant reduction of up to 30% in per-stream costs.
  • Compared with Amazon EC2 C5 CPU-based instances, VT1 instances present an even more substantial reduction, up to 60% per stream, for live video transcoding.

VT1 instances exhibit robust capabilities, supporting streams with resolutions of up to 4K UHD at 60 frames per second (fps) and facilitating real-time transcoding of as many as 64 simultaneous 1080p60 streams.

Equipped with up to 8 Xilinx® Alveo™ U30 media accelerator cards, these instances can accommodate configurations of up to 96 vCPUs and 192GB of memory. Additionally, they offer 25 Gbps of enhanced networking and 19 Gbps of EBS bandwidth.

Summary

In summary, Callaba Multiviewer introduces a scalable solution, supporting various protocols and codecs.

Users can choose between vCPU-based or VT1-based server instances, allowing flexibility based on project requirements.

VT1 instances, with their FPGA acceleration, offer high-speed broadband capabilities and significantly reduce per-stream costs compared to GPU-based and CPU-based instances. They excel in real-time transcoding tasks, supporting resolutions up to 4K UHD at 60 fps and facilitating multiple simultaneous streams.
